American artist James Turrell has created As Seen Below, a 40-metre-wide Skyspace, for the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum in Aarhus, Denmark. Opening today, the domed extension realised in collaboration with Danish studio Schmidt Hammer Lassen, is an immersive subterranean space washed in monochromatic colours. A six-metre-wide central aperture sits at the dome's apex to frame views of the shifting sky above. Its volume is topped with a 100-square-metre operable lid that allows the oculus to be closed and double as a lighting system. As Seen Below by James Turrell Its interior is washed in monochromatic colours Ground level access to the space is provided by an arched concrete opening that carves into the structure. Inside, the 16-metre-tall dome is centred around a sweeping open space, which is entered through gaps in a secondary concrete structure that provides stepped seating. The interior has been finished with a grey-toned material palette of raw concrete and brick paving, which slopes down to a stone-covered drainage area at the structure's centre.

Instagram Gives Its Decade-Old Wordmark a Refresh

Social platforms rarely sit still for long, but their logos usually do. That changed this week for Instagram. Adam Mosseri, the platform's head, announced a fresh wordmark in a post shared to his own account. The update marks the first change to the lettering atop the app in ten years, according to Mosseri. An image displaying the official wordmark logo of the social media platform "Instagram" positioned prominently in the center against a minimalist light gray background. The text is rendered in its signature, elegant cursive script typeface, featuring fluid lines and distinctive rounded flourishes on letters like the 'g' and the 'm'. The wordmark is filled with a rich, continuous color gradient that starts with a deep purple on the left side of the initial capital letter 'I', blends seamlessly into a vibrant magenta and hot pink through the middle letters, and finishes with a bright, warm orange and red hue on the final letters 'am'. The background consists of a clean, off-white to light gray gradient with a subtle texture created by faint, oversized, and semi-transparent outlines of the platform's typographic elements layered softly behind the main text. These large, ghosted letters are cropped and overlapping, adding depth and visual interest to the composition without distracting from the main, vividly colored brand name in the foreground.
