Editorial Policy
How we make decisions, label content and review every article, and how to submit news, pitch a story.
This Editorial Policy explains how PakistaniArt makes editorial decisions, labels different types of content, handles corrections and discloses our use of research tools, so readers know exactly what to expect from our Pakistani art and culture coverage. It also explains how to submit news, pitch a story, and get involved with us.
Editorial Independence
All editorial decisions, including what to publish, how to cover a story, which sources to cite and which perspectives to platform, are made independently by PakistaniArt's editorial team. Advertisers, sponsors and external parties have no influence over editorial content. Sponsored or branded content, if published, is clearly labelled as such and kept separate from independent journalism.
PakistaniArt is not funded by any government body, political party or institutional partner. We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage.
Content Types
Every article on PakistaniArt is assigned a content type. Understanding the difference helps readers calibrate what they are reading.
News
Factual, time sensitive reporting on events, announcements and developments in Pakistani and international art and culture. We report what happened, attribute all claims and seek comment from relevant parties where possible.Review
Critical assessment of exhibitions, films, albums, books, performances and other creative work. Reviews express the editorial opinion of the named writer.Feature
In depth, long form journalism exploring a topic, trend, artist or cultural moment. Features may include original research and reported interviews, and carry the same factual standards as news.Opinion
Pieces that represent the personal views of the named author and not the editorial position of PakistaniArt as a publication. All opinion pieces are labelled as Opinion.Interview
Primary source conversations with artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, curators and cultural figures. Interview content is lightly edited for clarity and approved by the subject where required.Sourcing
PakistaniArt attributes all quoted material and names sources wherever possible. We follow standard journalistic practice for protecting the identity of confidential sources when necessary for their safety or livelihood. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is credible, cannot be obtained on the record, and the public interest in publication outweighs the cost of anonymity.
Corrections
PakistaniArt is committed to accuracy. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. If you believe an article contains a factual error, contact us at editorial@pakistaniart.pk with the article link and details of the error. Verified corrections are noted at the end of the corrected article with a brief description of what was changed and when.
Use of AI
We sometimes use AI tools to help with research, and occasionally to catch small mistakes or make minor edits. Beyond that, PakistaniArt runs on real people. Every article is written and personally reviewed by our editorial team before it is published.
Submit news & press releases
Have an art-world news tip, announcement or press release? Send it to editorial@pakistaniart.pk. PakistaniArt covers Pakistani and international art, culture, film, music, fashion and design — news, exhibitions, awards, openings and the people behind them. To help us cover it quickly, please include:
- What is happening, and who is involved
- When and where (dates, venue, city)
- Why it matters — a sentence or two of context
- Relevant links and a high-resolution image (with credit)
- Your name and contact details for any follow-up

Pitch a story
We welcome pitches for features, reviews, interviews and opinion from writers, critics and cultural commentators. Email editorial@pakistaniart.pk with a short outline (150–200 words), why it fits PakistaniArt, and links to your previous work. Our content types and standards are described above.
Careers & getting involved
We're not hiring right now. PakistaniArt is an independent, self-funded platform — Pakistan's first dedicated online art magazine. As a young, independent publication, we genuinely can't yet afford paid editorial roles, and we'd rather be honest about that than make promises we can't keep.
But if you'd like to volunteer, you are very welcome. If you're passionate about Pakistani art and culture and want to help build a platform that represents Pakistan's creative scene to the world, we'd love to hear from you. We welcome volunteer writers, editors, photographers, translators, researchers, and social media & outreach contributors.
