Danyal Zafar and Komal Meer are set to star together in an upcoming Green Entertainment drama reportedly titled Raqaas.
Few details about the plot have surfaced so far, but the creative team behind it already carries serious weight. The serial is written by Radain Shah and directed by Shahid Shafaat. The writer-director duo previously collaborated on Duniyapur, which became one of the notable television projects in recent years.
That pairing alone raises expectations. Duniyapur was a 2024 Urdu-language drama directed by Shafaat and written by Shah, produced under Multiverse Entertainment and premiered on Green Entertainment. It is considered the most expensive drama made in the history of Pakistani television. Reuniting the same creative engine for Raqaas signals ambition.
The drama is currently being filmed in the scenic location of Nathiagali. That hill station setting, far from the usual Karachi or Lahore studio lots, could lend Raqaas a visual texture closer to cinematic production than standard serial fare.
Zafar arrives at this project riding genuine momentum. He currently stars in Zanjeerain on Hum TV alongside Sajal Aly, Ahsan Khan, Sahar Hashmi, Samiya Mumtaz, Momal Sheikh, Adnan Siddiqui, and Ameer Gilani.
The series, created and written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, premiered on 29 April 2026 and remains one of the most-watched dramas currently airing. Zafar has carved a distinct identity among fans beyond being Ali Zafar's brother. An actor and singer, he started his drama journey with the Ramadan special Taana Bana and has since appeared in shows like Stand Up Girl and Farrar.
Meer, for her part, has been building a steady body of work across multiple networks. Born in Islamabad, she made her acting debut in 2018 and rose to prominence with the supporting character of Rameen in Ehd-e-Wafa, subsequently playing leading roles in Resham Gali Ki Husna, Benaam, Qalandar, and Tere Aany Se.
She is currently playing an intense role in Hum TV's drama serial Goonj. Often typecast in youthful, naive roles, Meer tried to experiment when she picked up a real-life character in Goonj and played it naturally on screen. Raqaas offers another opportunity to push past that bracket entirely.
Babar Ali will also be working with the duo in the serial. That is a significant addition to the cast. Ali is a veteran Pakistani film and television actor born in Karachi whose career stretches back to the mid-1990s. On television, his most noted role has been Bali, the lead character in the 2002 PTV series Landa Bazar. In 2022, he played Sardar Jatt in The Legend of Maula Jatt. His presence gives Raqaas a generational range that few new serials can claim.
No official premiere date has been announced. More details regarding the storyline, supporting cast, and official release schedule are expected soon. Green Entertainment continues adding new projects featuring younger television stars and fresh pairings, and Raqaas fits that strategy cleanly. Whether Shah and Shafaat can match the standard they set with Duniyapur remains the central question.
The ingredients, at least on paper, look right.
