Pakistani television's younger generation of leading men continues to lock down high-profile scripts at a striking pace.

Danyal Zafar, currently earning attention for his role as Sarbuland Khan in the Hum TV feudal saga Zanjeerein, has signed on for a new drama tentatively titled Raqaas. Komal Meer, the actress and model who started her career with Miss Veet Pakistan, will star opposite him. Filming is already underway in Nathiagali, the hill station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that has become a popular backdrop for Pakistani serials chasing a cinematic look.

Behind the camera, the project carries familiar creative DNA. Duniyapur was a 2024 Urdu-language Pakistani television drama series directed by Shahid Shafaat and written by Radain Shah. That collaboration is now repeating for Raqaas, with both men returning in the same roles. Duniyapur was the most expensive drama made in the history of Pakistani television, and the series premiered on 25 September 2024 on Green Entertainment, starring an ensemble cast of Nauman Ijaz, Khushhal Khan, Ramsha Khan, Sami Khan, and Manzar Sehbai. Seeing Shah and Shafaat reunite gives Raqaas an immediate credibility boost. The new drama will also air on Green Entertainment, keeping that channel's momentum going after a strong 2026 slate.

Zafar is a Pakistani actor, writer, and musician born on December 12, 1996, and the younger brother of prominent entertainer Ali Zafar. He has appeared in various Pakistani television series, including Tanaa Banaa (2021), Baarwan Khiladi (2022), and Standup Girl (2023-2024). His turn in Farrar added range to a resume that was once associated mainly with lighter, rom-com material. In Zanjeerein, the story is brought to life by writer Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, and Zafar shares the screen with Sajal Aly and Ahsan Khan. The role of Sarbuland Khan, with its feudal weight and emotional layers, has pushed him into a different register entirely.

Meer, for her part, has been working to widen her own range. She rose to prominence with the supporting character of Rameen in Ehd-e-Wafa and went on to lead projects like Badshah Begum and Rah e Junoon. Her portrayal of a real-life figure in Goonj marked a deliberate pivot away from the ingenue roles she had become known for. Pairing her with Zafar gives Raqaas a fresh on-screen combination that neither performer has tried before.

No official premiere date has been confirmed yet for Raqaas. With location shoots in progress and the Shah-Shafaat track record behind it, expectations from drama fans are already climbing.
