Pakistani television's crowded 2026 slate just added another title worth watching.
Momina Iqbal and Usama Khan are set to star in a new big-budget drama tentatively titled Nizaam, slated to air on Green Entertainment. Veteran actor Nauman Ijaz rounds out the lead trio in a pivotal role, lending serious gravity to a project already generating early industry buzz.
The drama is produced by Multiverse Production and penned by Fatima Faizan, celebrated for her work on Dayan. Shooting commenced in July, with production now fully underway. No official air date has been confirmed, though the series is expected to join Green TV's lineup later this year or in early 2027.
For Iqbal, Nizaam continues a steady upward trajectory. She made her acting debut in 2018 with Parlour Wali Larki as the female protagonist Maryam. She later appeared in serials like Khuda Aur Muhabbat 3, Ishq Mein Kaafir, Ajnabi Lage Zindagi, and Ehd-e-Wafa. Her ability to switch between sympathetic leads and sharp antagonist turns, most notably in Do Kinaray, has made her one of the busiest names on the circuit right now.
Khan, meanwhile, is looking to make a mega comeback with Nizaam after a recent slump in his career. That dip came after a run of popular projects that had cemented him as a rising name in the industry. He is best known for portraying the main role of Tabrez in the 2018 soap Sanwari, for which he received the Hum Award for Best Soap Actor. From 2020 to 2022, he performed more intense and mature roles in dramas such as Sitam, Mohlat, Mere Apne, and Dobara. A trained accountant who left the corporate world to pursue acting, Khan has always carried an underdog energy that resonates with audiences.
Then there is Ijaz, who barely needs introduction. Active since 1989, he has played an enormous range of roles and served as a senior actor on state television PTV. He is the recipient of 10 Lux Style Awards, 7 Hum Awards, and the President's Pride of Performance, presented to him in 2012. Credits like Parizaad, Sang-e-Mah, and Raqeeb Se have kept him at the center of Pakistani drama for over three decades. His casting in Nizaam instantly raises the project's profile.
Green TV has gained popularity with its top-quality stories within three years and has become a premium entertainment channel in the country. Titles like Maa, Rahguzar, and Ghulam Bashah Sundri earned strong ratings during the first quarter of 2026. Landing a cast of this caliber signals the network's intent to compete more aggressively with Hum TV, ARY Digital, and Geo Entertainment for prestige original content.
With Faizan's script, a proven veteran anchoring the ensemble, and two younger stars eager to deliver career-best work, Nizaam has the raw ingredients for a breakout hit. Whether it lives up to the early noise will depend on the material itself. But on paper, at least, it already reads like one of the more interesting bets of the season.
