The gold Oscar statuette, officially named the Academy Award of Merit, is a globally recognized symbol of filmmaking excellence designed by MGM art director Cedric Gibbons in 1928. Each standard trophy stands 13.5 inches tall and weighs a solid 8.5 pounds. It depicts a stylized knight holding a crusader's sword while standing atop a five-spoke film reel, which represents the original branches of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: actors, directors, producers, technicians, and writers. Manufactured using advanced electroplating technology by Epner Technology in Brooklyn, New York, the core is cast in solid bronze and layered sequentially with copper, nickel, and silver before receiving its final, brilliant finish of 24-karat gold. This flawless gold coating is highly specialized, utilizing the exact same processing standards that NASA applies to its aerospace instruments.

A wide aerial drone shot captures a makeshift, open-air metal cable car dangling dangerously at a sharp tilt high above a vast, densely forested mountain ravine. Inside the cramped basket structure, multiple passengers, including schoolboys in white shirts, are seen clinging tightly to the wire mesh frame. In the soft-focused background, rolling green hills and rugged mountain ridges rise under a vast, cloud-filled sky, emphasizing the extreme altitude and isolation of the stranded vehicle.

In this portrait, the Pakistani artist and fashion designer Misha Japanwala sits on the floor of her art studio surrounded by several of her signature, handcrafted body-cast sculptures. She is positioned centrally, looking directly at the camera while wearing white, wide-leg trousers and a striking, asymmetrical sky-blue resin breastplate molded to her torso. Behind her stands a light-wood work desk covered with art supplies, including a jar of paintbrushes and candles, and topped by a large, lavender-colored sculptural torso. Propped against the wall behind the desk is a large canvas featuring a minimalist black-and-white calligraphic silhouette drawing. Scattered around her on the floor are additional sculpted anatomical forms in bold shades of red, dark blue, gold, and dark purple, highlighting her unique creative practice that explores themes of bodily autonomy and the deconstruction of shame.
