Amar Khan Joins Rajab Butt for His Silver-Screen Debut in a High-Budget Action-Comedy

The controversial Pakistani YouTuber pivots to cinema with an ambitious new film tackling human trafficking, directed by Syed Faisal Bukhari and set for a 2027 theatrical release

This split promotional banner showcases the lead cast members of an upcoming action-comedy film pairing Pakistani actress Amar Khan and content creator Rajab Butt together for the first time. On the left side, actress Amar Khan poses confidently, wearing an elegant, embellished rich magenta-red silk and chiffon saree paired with an intricate traditional gold choker necklace and matching stud earrings. Her look is completed with dramatic winged eyeliner, deep berry lipstick, and loose, glamorous waves framing her face. On the right side, YouTuber and influencer Rajab Butt leans against a pool table in a structured fawn-brown blazer accented with a distinct chest crest embroidery. He styles the jacket over a crisp white button-down shirt, a gold chain link necklace, and vintage round black sunglasses with a thick gold geometric frame. The background is warm and dimly lit, decorated with soft overhead pendant lights that bounce colorful prism-like lens flares across the entire visual layout.

Pakistan's booming influencer-to-actor pipeline just landed its most polarizing entry yet.

Rajab Butt, the Lahore-born social media heavyweight, has confirmed that actress Amar Khan will star opposite him in an upcoming action-comedy directed by Syed Faisal Bukhari and written by Sarmad Ibrahim. The high-budget project blends intense action and romance while tackling the serious social issue of human trafficking.

Filming is currently underway across Punjab and Bangkok, with a theatrical release in Pakistan planned for 2027.

The casting news arrives at a turbulent moment for Butt. The YouTuber has been facing sustained public backlash over his controversial divorce from ex-wife Emaan Fatima, with netizens calling for his boycott across all platforms.

Earlier in 2025, he drew legal action and widespread criticism after launching a perfume referencing Pakistan's penal code related to religious offenses, ultimately issuing a public apology and discontinuing the product.

Online sentiment around his film debut has been, to put it mildly, unkind. Social media users have piled on, with many dismissing the pairing as two "flop artists" and predicting the movie will tank.

That skepticism may be premature where Khan is concerned. She made her film debut with the 2022 romantic comedy-drama Dum Mastam, which she also wrote and starred in opposite Imran Ashraf. Born in Lahore in 1989, she studied acting and directing at Beaconhouse National University before carving a dual career as a screenwriter and performer.

Beyond acting, Khan has written several acclaimed television projects, including Akkad Bakkad and Azaad Masi, and earned a Lux Style Awards nomination for Best Emerging Talent for her role in Belapur Ki Dayan.

Bukhari brings considerable pedigree to the director's chair. He is the son of the late legendary Pakistani playback singer Zubaida Khanum and the late film cameraman Syed Riaz Bukhari. His filmography includes Bhai Log in 2011 and Saltanat in 2014, alongside the acclaimed Geo TV drama serial Rani. Notably, Bukhari is reportedly the father of one of Butt's close friends, a connection that apparently helped set the collaboration in motion.

Butt commands 9 million YouTube subscribers and 3 million Instagram followers, numbers that make him one of Pakistan's largest digital creators. He is reportedly personally invested in the project and partly financing it himself.

Several of his fellow content creators, including friends known as Haider, Dogar, and Shahbaz, are set to appear in supporting roles, tying the film directly to his online audience. Renowned choreographer Nigah Jee is overseeing the musical sequences, and prominent Pakistani music composers are developing the soundtrack.

Whether the gamble pays off remains an open question. Pakistani cinema has had a choppy few years at the box office. The 2026 slate has been led by Aag Lagay Basti Mein, which earned Rs. 86 crore to become the year's top-grossing domestic release.

A content creator with millions of loyal followers represents a built-in audience most local productions can only dream of. But loyalty on YouTube doesn't always translate to ticket sales. And the ongoing boycott calls present a genuine wildcard.

The production has already completed its first major shooting spell, with the makers now working toward the 2027 release and further details expected as filming progresses.

For Khan, it marks another bet on the big screen. For Butt, it marks the biggest bet of his career, period.
