Weeks after her own blockbuster nuptials at Madison Square Garden, Taylor Swift was photographed at a very different kind of celebration in the English countryside.
She traveled abroad to attend the wedding of Oli Jacobs and Laura Sisk, two Grammy Award winners who have worked with the pop star.
The ceremony took place at Peter Gabriel's legendary Real World Studios, the sprawling complex outside Bath, Gloucestershire. Sabrina Carpenter and Jack Antonoff were also among the guests. Phoebe Bridgers was reportedly present as well.
Coverage immediately fixated on Swift's ring, her shorter haircut, and the fact that she attended solo. Fair enough. But the more revealing story sits in the names on the invitation itself.
Sisk is a freelance recording engineer who has been working with Swift since her fifth studio album, 1989. A 2010 graduate of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, she is a Grammy Award-winning engineer whose work spans platinum-selling artists including Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde, along with critical favorites like St. Vincent, Florence + the Machine, and Clairo. She has been a constant in Swift's discography and contributed to the singer's Album of the Year wins for 1989, Folklore, and Midnights.
In a 2018 Sound on Sound interview, producer Antonoff called Sisk "the unsung hero of all of this." She recorded the Lana Del Rey album Norman Fucking Rockwell alongside Antonoff, and her philosophy of preserving spontaneity in the studio shaped that record's raw, lived-in sound.
Jacobs is a British recording and mixing engineer with eleven Grammy nominations and five wins, known for his work with Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, and Peter Gabriel, and for frequent collaborations with Antonoff.
He studied on the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey and began his career as an in-house engineer at Real World Studios, working for Gabriel in-house for another eight years before going freelance. During that period he worked on several top-ten albums, including Harry Styles's Harry's House and The 1975's Being Funny in a Foreign Language.
Jacobs has said he eventually met Antonoff and Sisk, then started working with both of them more regularly. That collaboration pulled him deep into the Antonoff orbit. He engineered records for Swift on The Tortured Poets Department, for Carpenter on Short n' Sweet and Man's Best Friend, and for Bleachers.
His recent credits also include Kendrick Lamar's GNX, Gabriel's i/o, and Sam Fender's People Watching. He received the MPG Recording Engineer of the Year award in 2023.
The overlap matters. Antonoff produces. Sisk records vocals. Jacobs mixes and engineers.
All three cycle through the same sessions, the same late nights, the same creative problem-solving under pressure. Over a decade of that, professional trust becomes personal trust. Engineers are privy to unfinished lyrics and emotional first takes. They hear the voice crack before the retake. It is an inherently intimate relationship, and the best ones endure.
That Carpenter was at the wedding is no surprise either. On Man's Best Friend, she chose to work with only three collaborators: songwriter Amy Allen and producers Antonoff and John Ryan. She previously served as an opening act on selected Eras Tour dates. Jacobs has credits on both of her most recent records. Sisk's name appears alongside his.
The circle is small by design.
The choice of venue only reinforces the point. Jacobs once said that he learned from Gabriel that Real World was designed to be a musician's studio, not an engineer's studio, a philosophy centered on comfort and creative freedom over technical ego. Marrying there feels like closing a loop.
Swift may have drawn the cameras. The real story, though, is what the guest list says about how pop music's biggest records actually get made. Not by sprawling, anonymous teams, but by a handful of people who trust each other completely.
That trust, apparently, extends well past the control room.
