Fantasy adaptations keep finding fresh ways to expand their worlds. New stills from Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 put the spotlight on Percy Jackson and young Nico di Angelo.
Entertainment Weekly released images showing Walker Scobell as Percy in a weathered jacket against industrial backdrops. Levi Chrisopulos appears as Nico studying toys at a table. The pair also stand side by side protectively.
Scobell plays the son of Poseidon in the Disney+ series based on Rick Riordan's books. The show launched in 2023 and quickly became a fan favorite. Chrisopulos joins as the child of Hades for this run.
Scobell told Entertainment Weekly he sensed the right fit right away. “I definitely felt an instant connection with Levi, and that was it,” he said. “I just knew it was going to be him.”
Chrisopulos recalled the nervous energy of his final callback. A video message from Riordan sealed the deal for the 14-year-old actor.
Their characters form a tighter link on screen. “They’re a little bit closer than they are in the books,” Scobell explained. “Nico reminds Percy a lot more of himself and how happy you could be in this [magical world]. I think it’s really easy to start to lose your optimism [when] you start to feel really negative feelings, and I feel like Nico is so positive, and he’s so happy, and everything is so interesting and cool to him, and I feel Percy likes seeing that a lot.”
Chrisopulos stressed Nico's core drive. “His close bond with Bianca really drives everything he does in the season,” he said. “I think that determination to protect Bianca — and that goes both ways, with Bianca as well protecting Nico — their dynamic and the way they handle each other is really admirable.”
The siblings stay hyper-focused after years of knowing only each other. Nico's main goal remains keeping Bianca safe. Scobell noted Percy respects that same protective instinct. He has shown it with his mother and Grover before.
Season 3 adapts The Titan’s Curse. Annabeth vanishes early. New allies arrive, including the Hunters of Artemis. Percy and friends race to rescue her and the goddess herself.
Nico gets more screen time than expected. Scenes check in on him at camp while the main quest unfolds. Chrisopulos kept a diary, writing as the character each night. He worked to hold key book traits while fitting the show's adjustments.
Scobell saw long-term potential from the start. “We could be doing this for years together,” he said, nodding to later Riordan books.
The season marks the series' most ambitious stretch yet. Higher stakes and a darker tone define it. Cast and crew have called out the growing intensity after two seasons of monster fights and quests.
Fans already share the new images widely. Excitement builds around the Percy-Nico dynamic and the fresh faces.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 premieres November 20 on Disney+. Eight episodes will deliver the full quest.
