Pakistani television's busiest production house shows no signs of slowing down.
Hira Mani and Mikaal Zulfiqar are set to appear in an upcoming Geo TV drama serial that will replace Shaidai. The teaser for the project has now been released, giving audiences a first look at what promises to be one of the network's next marquee serials.
The story follows a struggling woman, portrayed by Mani, who is determined to uplift her family's fortunes. Zulfiqar, in contrast, plays a wealthy young man who finds purpose in philanthropic endeavors. Themes of struggle, determination, and philanthropy run through the narrative, offering a dramatic tension rooted in class divide and personal conviction. It is the kind of setup that has historically worked well for Geo's primetime audience.
The series is penned by Rukhsana Nigar Adnan and directed by Muhammad Iftikhar Iffi, produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment. That production house, led by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, has been behind a considerable share of Geo's biggest hits over the past decade. Nigar Adnan is a prolific name in Pakistani television writing. Her recent credits include the Geo drama Bayhadh, starring Affan Waheed, Madiha Imam, and Saboor Ali. She also wrote Rang De, which starred Shahzad Sheikh and Sabeena Farooq and wrapped its 47-episode run earlier this year.
Iffi, the director, brings his own track record. He previously helmed Kaffara for 7th Sky Entertainment, a Geo serial that premiered in July 2024. Pairing him with Nigar Adnan's writing feels like a deliberate choice by the producers to keep the network's output consistent.
For Mani, the role marks a notable return. She is renowned for her performances in dramas such as Mere Paas Tum Ho and Kashf. Her career began in video jockeying before she transitioned into television hosting and, eventually, leading dramatic roles across multiple networks. Few Pakistani actresses carry the same mix of social media reach and on-screen credibility.
Zulfiqar is a British-Pakistani actor recognized for extensive work across both television and cinema. He entered the Pakistani TV industry with Saiqa in 2009, and the hit series Pani Jaisa Piyar cemented his position in the medium, followed by big-budget dramas like Shehr-e-Zaat and Diyar-e-Dil. His film work includes a supporting turn in the acclaimed Cake (2018). He prefers to keep his personal life private, rarely sharing details with the public, which only seems to heighten audience curiosity about his projects.
Khafa is scheduled to take the slot currently held by Shaidai, the romantic drama starring Feroze Khan and Sahar Hashmi, directed by Ali Faizan and written by Saqlain Abbas. That serial debuted in April 2026. With its run winding down, the transition to Khafa looks imminent.
No exact premiere date has been confirmed. But with the teaser already circulating and the predecessor nearing its conclusion, viewers likely won't have to wait long. Whether Mani and Zulfiqar can generate the same kind of weekly buzz that Shaidai built is the real question. On paper, the ingredients are solid.
