Sam Hargrave directs from a script by David Coggeshall. The Extraction filmmaker brings his stunt expertise to this PG-13 effort. It draws directly from Mattel's classic die-cast cars. Practical vehicle work and globe-trotting set pieces define the tone. Production spanned locations that supported large-scale highway sequences and international pursuits.

Cena has spoken about the project's personal pull. He collected Matchbox cars as a kid and called his favorite a 1970 Oldsmobile 442. "The thing I love about Matchbox is Sam also gets to flex a little range," Cena told Collider. "He gets to tell stories... Everyone will be blown away by the action." He later added that the film lets Hargrave lean into character arcs beyond pure spectacle.

Producer Jules Daly described the stunts as Matchbox on steroids. She called it the most fun action movie she has made in a PG-13 package. Cena performed many of his own practical feats, including helicopter work, despite a fear of heights. He noted the cast provided support during intense days on set.

Mattel continues expanding its film slate after Barbie. This Apple Original from Skydance Media and Mattel Studios targets audiences seeking accessible thrills. It mixes friendship comedy with spy intrigue and car-driven set pieces. The October 9 global launch on Apple TV positions it in a crowded streaming action field.
