Pakistani television's prime-time race got a fresh entrant this week.
Khafa premiered on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, on Geo Entertainment, airing twice each week. New episodes land every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time. The serial pairs Hira Mani and Mikaal Zulfiqar as its central couple, with Saif Ali Khan rounding out the top-billed trio. 7th Sky Entertainment is behind the production.
Rukhsana Nigar wrote the script, and Irfan Aslam directed it. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi serve as producers. Both producers have helmed an enormous volume of Geo Entertainment serials through 7th Sky over the past decade, making them among the most prolific names in the Pakistani drama industry.
At its center is Tazeen, a schoolteacher who has sacrificed personal ambitions to raise her siblings. A false theft allegation shatters her reputation and isolates her from people she trusted. Mohtashim, a wealthy but empathetic man, steps in during her lowest moment, though his choice triggers family rivalry and buried feelings.
Mani plays Tazeen, the burdened teacher. Zulfiqar takes on Mohtashim, the compassionate son of a man named Raza. Future episode arcs are expected to track Mohtashim's decision to marry Tazeen and a jealousy-fueled conflict involving a character named Rayan.
Mani has steadily accumulated a loyal audience over several years. She earned recognition through roles in Sun Yara, Kashaf, Sunn Mere Dil, and Sharpasand. She also maintains a strong social media presence and routinely generates attention with viral videos. Zulfiqar operates differently. He tends to keep his personal life private, rarely sharing details publicly. His best-known credits include Dureshehwar, Diyar-e-Dil, Jaisay Aapki Marzi, and Tauba.
Joining the leads is a supporting ensemble that features Ayesha Rajpoot, Ahsan Afzal Khan, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Kinza Malik, Uzma Hassan, Seemi Pasha, Alee Hassan Shah, Shazia Gohar, and Mehboob Sultan. That's a deep bench for a family drama. Several of these names have appeared in prior 7th Sky projects, lending some continuity to the production house's on-screen identity.
The original soundtrack sets a tonal foundation of longing and devotion, with vocals credited to Sahir Ali Bagga and Afshan Fawad. Their contrasting vocal styles mirror the two emotional poles of the central relationship. Bagga's track record as a drama OST composer is long enough that his name alone generates anticipation among regular viewers.
Khafa occupies the slot vacated by Shaidai in the channel's lineup. Geo Entertainment has been cycling through serials at a rapid clip this year, and a Wednesday-Thursday placement at 8 PM is a strong vote of confidence from the network. No official episode count has been confirmed yet.
Early viewer reactions on social media have been largely positive, with attention focused on Mani and Zulfiqar's on-screen chemistry and the emotional weight of the first episode's setup. A teaser for Episode 2 dropped alongside the premiere. The serial's themes center on family duty, trust, sacrifice, dignity, and emotional recovery. None of that is unfamiliar territory for Pakistani prime-time drama, but the execution so far suggests a more layered treatment than the premise might initially imply.
What comes next will determine whether Khafa breaks through the noise. The false-accusation arc needs to move with enough nuance to earn viewer investment over weeks, not just a strong opening. Zulfiqar and Mani have each carried serials before.
Doing it together, with Rukhsana Nigar's script holding the floor, is the actual test.
