Pakistani television's crowded 2026 slate just got considerably more interesting. Dar-e-Nijaat, a new mega-project written by Umera Ahmed for ARY Digital, is building serious anticipation ahead of a tentative first-week-of-August launch, with the serial expected to premiere on the network and alternate YouTube channels in India.
The drama marks the much-awaited first on-screen pairing of Durefishan Saleem and Sheheryar Munawar.
Saleem, who plays a character named Zaryab, has spent the last several years climbing the industry ranks. She received wider popularity after starring in the tragic romance Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi, the light-hearted Ishq Murshid, and Sanwal Yaar Piya. Munawar, meanwhile, has toggled between film and television with ease. He made his film debut as a lead actor and producer in 2016 with Ho Mann Jahaan and is notable for his role in Parey Hut Love, which became Pakistan's highest-grossing movie in 2019. His recent TV credits include Pehli Si Muhabbat, Sinf-e-Aahan, and the well-received Kuch Ankahi.
Joining them is a formidable ensemble. Nameer Khan, Sahar Hashmi, Sania Saeed, and Mehmood Aslam round out a cast that blends rising talent with seasoned veterans. The serial is directed by Saqib Khan and reportedly produced by Salman Iqbal, Sonya Iqbal, and Munawar under the 3's Entertainment banner.
Ahmed, of course, needs little introduction. She is one of the most widely read and popular Urdu fiction novelists and screenplay writers of this era. Her pen has shaped some of the medium's defining serials, from Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan to Alif and Shehr-e-Zaat. Dar-e-Nijaat promises to be a heartfelt family saga that explores love, cultural struggles, and the bonds that hold relationships together. Its title hints at redemption and inner peace, carrying spiritual and moral undertones.
Saleem has been stoking curiosity through cryptic Instagram posts. In one update, she wrote: "Bismillah. Never been more excited for a script." A black-and-white still shared recently featured her alongside Munawar and Khan in a moody, intense frame. Maya Ali extended her best wishes, commenting: "This is going to be another feather in your cap."
Reports suggest the serial could take over the Friday and Saturday 8 PM slot on ARY Digital. However, the channel has not officially announced its premiere date or broadcast schedule yet. In a year where Pakistani networks are stacking their lineups with high-profile pairings and literary adaptations, Dar-e-Nijaat looks poised to become one of the season's most closely watched arrivals.
