Mia Goth Files for Divorce From Shia LaBeouf

The Pearl star seeks primary custody of their daughter and waives spousal support after a long on-off romance

The tumultuous relationship between Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf spans over a decade of highly publicized highs and lows, tracing back to 2012 when they first met on the set of Lars von Trier's controversial film Nymphomaniac: Vol. II. Their romance quickly became a fixture of Hollywood headlines, marked by a red carpet debut in 2014, intense public altercations like a volatile 2015 argument in Germany, and a colorful, non-legally binding Las Vegas wedding ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator in October 2016. The couple officially filed for divorce for the first time in 2018, after which LaBeouf briefly dated other high-profile figures, but they dramatically reconciled during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. This reconciliation entered a more grounded chapter when they welcomed their daughter, Isabel, in March 2022, an milestone that LaBeouf later credited as a stabilizing force in his chaotic life. However, the domestic stability was short-lived; insiders revealed that the pair faced

Hollywood pairings often blur the line between private life and public spectacle. Mia Goth has now filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf, formalizing a split that first surfaced earlier this year.

Court documents show Goth submitted the papers in Los Angeles on Tuesday. She cites irreconcilable differences. The filing lists July 28, 2025, as the official separation date.

Goth requests primary legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter Isabel. She also asks the court to end any chance of spousal support for either side. Details on property remain unclear in the papers for now.

The pair first crossed paths in 2012 on the set of Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. That project marked Goth’s screen debut. They held a Las Vegas commitment ceremony in 2016. An earlier split followed in 2018 before they reconciled around 2020. Isabel arrived in 2022.

Reports of their latest estrangement emerged in February after LaBeouf relocated to New Orleans. He bought a home there and faced arrest during Mardi Gras festivities. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery.

LaBeouf addressed the breakup in a March interview on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan. “We were deeply unhappy,” he said. “I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.”

He praised Goth highly in the same conversation. “She’s incredible … all the time. 10 out of 10,” LaBeouf added. He described their co-parenting as solid and said she shows him grace.

Goth has built a strong profile in recent years as a horror standout. She starred in Ti West’s X, Pearl, and MaXXXine. Roles in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey followed. Her career keeps expanding while she prioritizes family.

LaBeouf’s path has included high-profile projects alongside repeated legal and personal challenges. The divorce arrives amid other developments in his orbit, including a resolved dispute with former partner FKA twigs over a nondisclosure agreement.

Both continue focusing on their daughter amid the legal process. Co-parenting arrangements appear to be taking shape without major public friction so far. Goth’s rising profile and LaBeouf’s next steps will likely draw ongoing attention as the case proceeds.

The filing closes one chapter of a relationship that spanned more than a decade of starts and stops. What comes next centers on Isabel and separate professional paths.
